Huntsman has an immediate opening for a Process Engineer in the Polyurethanes division located at the Huntsman Advanced Technology Center in The Woodlands, Tx.

 

Key Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

Generate ideas and contribute to Technical Team efforts for the improvement of the PO/MTBE business asset productivity. This requires the evaluation of new technologies and the optimization of current technologies to reduce variable and fixed operating costs on the current assets.

 

Ability to Generate and maintain Aspen models of current and modified equipment arrangements will be central to this position.

 This position will also be part of the Process Engineering team that will develop the Basic Engineering Package (BEP) and provide further support to PO Licensing efforts with focus on Chinese Options.  This will require fundamental chemical process engineering abilities and the capacity to quickly learn the PO/MTBE chemical process.

 Any technology improvement must achieve these deliverables without compromising the EHS performance of the assets.

 Contribute, in a team environment, to technical initiatives that address issues related to:

  • Improving raw material yields
  • Reducing utilities/chemical usage
  • Increasing production rates
  • Improving plant reliability/operability
  • Improving product quality/consistency
  • Improving EH&S performance
  • Support PO/MTBE licensing efforts as needed

 

Develop and carry out (upon approval) experimental programs to determine the practical feasibility for the implementation of innovative ideas in an industrial plant environment.

 Ensure that all efforts being supervised are performed in accordance with the relevant safety/environmental standards

Keep abreast of developments in the process/chemical engineering discipline.

 

 Educational Requirements and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 1 – 5 years in an industrial chemical manufacturing plant or 1 – 5 years in a process development role
  • 1 to 3 year Experience with Aspen process modeling and Physical Property calculations.
  • Any ability to speak (and read) Mandarin is a plus.
